Scripture Focus:
Luke 5:4–6 (KJV)
Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.
Devotional Thought:
Sometimes, we put too much faith in familiar circles, those we’ve always known, always leaned on, or expect to support us. But like Simon Peter, we often find ourselves toiling with no results in places that are “comfortable” or familiar.
Jesus told him to go deeper and cast the net again. Not in the shallow waters. Not where he had been all night. But in a new, unfamiliar place, further out.
God may be calling you to cast your net beyond what’s comfortable. That means stepping out in faith to connect with people outside your normal circle, because not everyone close to you wants to see you succeed. Some are secretly watching, not to help, but to see if you’ll fail.
But here’s the truth: Your provision isn’t limited to the people you know. God can and will use strangers, outsiders, even unexpected sources to bless your mission. Your calling isn’t confined to your comfort zone, it’s designed to stretch you into deeper waters.
Reflection Questions:
• Have I been limiting my reach to only those I know or feel safe with?
• What “deep waters” is God calling me to cast my net into?
• Who might I be overlooking that God could use to help fulfil my purpose?
Prayer:
Lord, help me to trust You beyond my comfort. Give me the courage to cast my net wide, to believe that my help, my blessing, and my breakthrough can come from unexpected places. Guard my heart from envy and disappointment, and align me with those You’ve appointed to walk with me. Amen.
